Filtration of rinsing water in the final cleaning of engine components

Engine manufacturer in Spain

Engine components such as the crankshaft, engine block, cylinders, and crank must be thoroughly cleaned before assembling an internal combustion engine. Spray cleaning systems with narrow spray channels are used for this purpose.

To prevent the spray nozzles from clogging and to ensure that no residues remain on the engine parts, the rinse water is filtered as finely as possible using a suitable automatic backwash filter.

Prevention of blockages in the filter.

Commonly used candle backwash filters are limited to a filter fineness of 50 µm in this application. However, these filters clog very quickly, which increases maintenance costs.

Ever-increasing quality requirements for modern, low-emission engines make it necessary to improve the flushing processes and increase the purity of the flushing medium.

Solid-free flushing circuits.

In order to ensure clean surfaces on the end product and minimize maintenance costs and the consumption of operating materials, a rethink of filtration is necessary.

With a filter fineness of 5 µm, the LENZING OptiFil automatic backwash system meets both the requirements for water quality and thus the purity of the end products, as well as the requirements for automation and operating costs thanks to its efficient backwashing.

The solution

Efficient filtration of rinse water in a closed washing cycle using our LENZING OptiFil system.

„When we first discussed this with the customer, there were many doubts, as the backwashing of an installed candle filter at 50 µm was insufficient.

He was then very satisfied when he realized that with the OptiFil and a 5 µm screen, he could achieve several months of continuous automatic operation before changing the filter material.“
